Our new InBody Scanner is revolutionising the way our Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists are able to help you take control over your health concerns. The InBody quickly and accurately assesses a number of body measurements and provides a detailed report to our health professionals. Importantly, it doesn’t make assumptions, or use averages, based on data that we have entered into the machine. Your age and gender will not affect the results. The InBody simply provides precise data based on the person it is scanning. This means we can tailor specific treatment plans suited to your unique physiology.
How Does The InBody Work?
Firstly, the InBody divides your body into 5 segments — left & right upper limb, left & right lower limb as well as the trunk. Your body composition, including body fat, muscle mass, water content, basal metabolic rate, and bone mineral density, is then analysed and recorded. The InBody also reports on balance and symmetry within the body:
Importantly, the InBody also measures your levels of visceral fat. This type of fat is wrapped around major organs such as the liver, pancreas and kidneys, putting you at increased risk of developing a number of serious illnesses including heart disease, cancer and diabetes
How can the Inbody Help Improve Your Health?
The InBody provides us with a detailed snap shot into your health. We can then provide you with the best advice to help you achieve your goals. Ultimately, the InBody facilitates positive health outcomes, because it allows us to work with you and your individual body composition. We have had excellent results so far and comparing follow up scans has also proven to be an effective motivator.

It is possible that you have a moderate to severe postural problem that is affecting your health, performance and is the source of your pain.
Six of the most common presenting postural problems
If the postural problem has persisted over time mobilisation of joints and returning muscle lengths back to normative values is needed before strengthening your new and improved posture.
The knee is a complex joint with many components, the forces the knee sustains in activity make it vulnerable to a variety of injuries and also accelerates wear and tear if the knee is not functioning optimally. Many knee injuries can be treated successfully with simple measures, such as bracing and rehabilitation exercises specific for the condition.
The knees seven key structures
◦ Collateral Ligaments border the inside and outside of the knee holding the knee together.
◦ Cruciate Ligaments are found within the knee joint, they cross between the long bones forming a “X” with a cruciate ligament from the front and a cruciate ligament in the back. They control the back and forth sliding motion between the long bones.
There is a multitude of various knee conditions associated with the above mentioned structures, some of these conditions have similar symptom patterns so it is important to have your knee assessed thoroughly to specify the correct line of treatment.
Seven Common Knee Injuries
Take confidence that our Physiotherapists will be able to advise you of the treatment that you require.
The shoulder is the most complex joint in the body as it allows the upper limb to move through uninterrupted 3D movements. The shoulder joint is formed where the humerus (upper arm bone) fits into the scapula (shoulder blade) socket (glenoid fossa), like a golf ball on a golf tee.
The shoulders five key structures
The shoulders most common injuries
Shoulder dislocation occurs when the humerus (arm bone) is forced from the socket of the shoulder. Ligament, tendon, bone and labrum injury may also occur at this time and it is advised to have a shoulder MRI following dislocation to examine the extent of the injury.
Shoulder subluxation is when the humerus (arm bone) is forced partially from the socket of the shoulder, the shoulder can also become subluxed from poor prolonged posture and muscular imbalances.
Rotator cuff disease is due to trauma from falling, lifting awkwardly and friction from adjacent boney structures causing wear and tear. Other causes can be from overuse in sports particularly activities that involve repetitive overhead motions.
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is acute shoulder pain and increasing stiffness that can last beyond 18-months. It is caused by inflammation and thickening of the shoulder ligaments and capsule.
Shoulder subacromial impingement is present when the rotator cuff muscle tendons are in contact with the under surface of the acromion which is an extension of the shoulder blade bone causing pressure, irritation and inflammation.
There is a multitude of various other shoulder conditions associated with the same above mentioned structures, some of these conditions have similar symptom patterns so it is important to have your shoulder assessed thoroughly to specify correct line of treatment.
Our Exercise Physiologists are specialists in the benefits of rehabilitative exercise.
We apply our specialised knowledge of how the body systems work optimally together to design an exercise rehabilitation program that is tailored to your specific needs.
Our Exercise Physiologists will assess you and your needs, then can prescribe a course of exercises for either rehabilitation, fitness and/or sports performance.
Pilates may be recommended with home based or gym based exercise routines. They can also advise on lifestyle modification programs and have proven strategies to help you with your goals.
Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact, or the application of forces that exceed what the body part can structurally withstand.
Common injuries we treat include sprains, strains, contusions, joint injuries, ligament injuries and concussions.
Investigation is important, as leaving an injury untreated can have far more severe consequences.
Subsequent instabilities and restrictions that are commonly present following sports injuries have been found to be a strong predictor of future injury in the same and/or opposite limb.
It is important to screen the adjacent structures and joints clearing all restriction left from the inflammation process. This approach allows us to alleviate compensatory movement patterns.
Sports injuries can reduce muscle strength and size which needs to be addressed with targeted science and evidence based exercises. It is also possible to reduce the impact of muscle decline throughout the healing process.
It is important to cross reference your function against normal function so we can determine what you need to return back to sport and activity in a safe and durable manor.
All physiotherapists at Anzac Parade Physiotherapy are spinal specialists with postgraduate certifications in advanced spinal assessment and manual therapy.
With your help we thoroughly gather a detailed history of your spine symptoms and concerns.
Following the history your Physiotherapist will determine what components of a physical exam to perform to help rule in or rule out possible diagnoses from your history.
Within the Physical exam your Physiotherapist will carefully examine your spine.
Throughout and following the physical exam our Physiotherapist will explain your assessment and how it is relevant to you and your condition.
Our Physiotherapists will then clearly explain your diagnosis in easy to understand language ensuring you are informed of what is causing your symptoms and concerns.
The Neck (Cervical Spine) Roles and Functions
The cervical vertebrae play a key role in maintaining these functions in the neck.
The Cervical spines key structures
Common cervical spine injury and pain sources
Cervical degenerative disc disease refers to when a cervical disc is the source of pain, possible from twisting and falls involving the neck but more commonly from prolonged poor posture and wear and tear of the cervical spine. Symptoms of stiffness numbness, tingling and weakness in the neck, arms and shoulders.
Peripheral nerve impingement may occur when peripheral nerves are irritated or pinched by degenerative disc degeneration leading to severe pain from the neck extending into the shoulder and arms, weakness may also be present.
Bone spurs and cervical osteoarthritis A bone spur (osteophyte) is an enlargement of the facet joint which develops over time and are seen in adults over 60 years of age. Symptoms may include pain and weakness in the arms and legs accompanied with dull neck pain and headaches.
Facet joint hypo-mobility can be caused from multiple sources; locked facet joints, facet joint arthritis, degenerative facet joint osteophytes, joint capsule scarring thickening and shortening, and/ or protective muscle spasm. Symptoms include cervical stiffness and restricted movement, head aches and muscular aches.
Take confidence that our Physiotherapists will be able to advise you of the treatment that you require.
